Community Employment – Working for Opportunity Village
Opportunity Village's highly-trained staff supervises and evaluates disabled workers as they progress through a development program, which allows them to earn money while learning the skills and work-related attitudes they'll need to be successful in the "world of work". Each disabled worker's capabilities are evaluated to ensure they are given the best opportunity to succeed. Opportunity Village operates numerous contracts that provide services to government agencies and private businesses throughout southern Nevada. These contracts provide good paying jobs for over 250 people with intellectual and other disabilities. Many people with disabilities prefer to work on these contracts because, while they earn competitive wages and are provided the same benefits as non-disabled co-workers, workers with disabilities also receive a higher level of support from Opportunity Village's specially trained staff than might be available through competitive employment.
