Opportunity Village has served southern Nevadans and their families for more than 60 years and is now creating the foundation on which the next sixty years - and beyond - will be built. The comprehensive Christopher’s Crossing Capital Campaign is in full-force. The goal is to address the mounting demand for services and to meet the future needs of the community, Opportunity Village has committed itself to building a fourth, permanent, Employment Resource Center Campus in northwest Las Vegas, build two intentional, active residential communities, and expand its current three campuses. In addition, Opportunity Village will, through the Capital Campaign, fund the only health and wellness/health management program available to every person served by Opportunity Village.
The Christopher’s Crossing Capital Campaign will raise $136 million to accomplish all of the construction and programmatic goals Opportunity Village has set. To date, over $90 million has been raised. The immediate concern is the development of two active residential communities; the first will be located adjacent to the Ralph & Betty Engelstad Campus of Opportunity Village. These communities will be unique, active, intentional communities - much like Sun City - where people with disabilities can live socially connected lives. There are only 176 scattered site group homes in the Las Vegas area and the need is reaching a critical point. The Opportunity Village communities are designed as accessible neighborhoods with houseparent-staffed homes and volunteer programs to enrich the lives of the residents. The second community will be constructed at the soon-to-be-built Northwest Employment Resource Center Campus, using the live/work/play philosophy of urban living.
