Project Enable is a community-based program that provides the services, support and supervision necessary for people with intellectual disabilities to become active, productive members of our community.
Project Enable serves people who have very limited productive capabilities. These are people with moderate to severe mental retardation, who have frequent behavioral outbursts and who are easily distracted.
The people served in Project Enable are some of the most severely disabled people in Southern Nevada . They are people who learn through experience rather than through normal teaching methods. Project Enable is designed to bring out the best in these adults by targeting and developing their strengths.
Criteria for Project Enable Client
Must be able to feed self with or without assistance.
Must be able to handle toileting and personal care needs with assistance.
Able to work cooperatively in a group.
Need direct supervision.
May not be able to communicate basic needs.
May react unfavorably to supervisory authority.
Inability to control irritating behaviors.
Relatively long learning time.
Difficulty in adjusting to change.
Program Goal Project Enable will provide training and assistance to individuals in socialization skills, communications, assertiveness, self advocacy and behavior self-management skills that are needed in any community-based supported employment program.
Project ENABLE will offer adults with severe multiple disabilities a chance to become active and contributing members of our community.
