What happens after I fill out my application?

You will be contacted by our Volunteer Welcome Team to talk about your interests, skills, availability and how those may align with our volunteer opportunities. If this feels like the right opportunity for you, we will then invite you to attend an orientation and complete a background check prior to your first day. We will then introduce you to your supervisory staff and provide you the on-site training you need to perform your new role.

How old do I need to be to volunteer?

For special events and projects, age parameters are specified on each posting, as they vary by event. For individuals interested in direct-service programs, volunteers age 12-15 may serve together with a parent or adult. Volunteers age 16 and above may volunteer independently. Volunteers under the age of 18 will not complete a background check, but will be required to provide references.

I want to volunteer short-term for a school service requirement. What do I do?

Check out our event page! We will post any upcoming opportunities for short-term involvement. If your passion lies in serving directly with the individuals we serve, please fill out the application and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Please reach out as early as possible, as this process takes more time and we know many of you have deadlines to meet.

What is the commitment to volunteer in your hand-in-hand programs?

If you are interested to serve alongside the people we serve in our daily programs, we do ask for a regular, long-term commitment. It is important that we bring volunteers to our programs who are committed to developing lasting relationships and consistent support.

Do you accept Court-Ordered Community Service?

We gladly accept volunteers for court-ordered community service for certain offenses. Please call our Volunteer Department at (702) 888-3377 or email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.! Community service opportunities are only available through a designated department and special considerations apply. To determine whether you qualify to complete your community service hours at Opportunity Village, you must first call or email the Volunteer Department. Please note, if you do not disclose you are volunteering for court-ordered service prior to your acceptance and participation as a volunteer, we will be unable to sign off or verify your hours for the court.

My high school hours conflict with your daily program hours. Can I still volunteer?

Yes! Our daily programs typically run from 8am-2pm. We have some opportunities that extend beyond these hours, such as our Thrift Store. We also plan youth programs in the summer to accommodate school schedules. We recommend you fill out an application – even if you are in school – as we will email you when these opportunities arise.
