OV accomplishes $1 million fundraising goal
Opportunity Village reaches $1 million fundraising goal to match Bill and Susan Walters’ generous end-of-year donation
LAS VEGAS — At the end of September, 2020, longtime Opportunity Village supporters Bill and Susan Walters offered the organization a $1 million matching gift. The match would require the Opportunity Village fundraising team to raise $1 million from Oct. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2020.
Opportunity Village is pleased to announce that the team reached their goal – and then some.
“I am so very proud of our Resource Development team coming together during the last three months of the year and working so diligently to reach out and secure donations from our supporters,” said Bob Brown, President & CEO of Opportunity Village. “COVID-19 led us to cancel our annual HallOVeen and Magical Forest fundraising events and switch many others to virtual means. This led to a major deficit in our funding.”
Brown continued, “I am beyond grateful to our long-standing, loyal friends Bill and Susan Walters for their continued leadership in our fundraising efforts.”
All funds raised will be used to provide programs and services to the people with disabilities Opportunity Village serves, which now numbers just over 3,000 people on an annual basis.
