Opportunity Village partners with William Hill US for third annual “Picks for OV: Football Fever" charity betting contest.
LAS VEGAS – The NFL football season is just weeks away, and Opportunity Village is ready to celebrate with its third annual “Picks for OV: Football Fever” charity fundraiser. This year’s proud sponsor is William Hill, one of the world’s leading betting and gaming companies. Registration is now open to the public, with all proceeds benefiting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Southern Nevada.
“Our goal when we created Picks for OV three years ago was to build the world’s largest football fundraising contest. As we enter our 3rd year, we are thrilled to welcome William Hill to the OV family. We look forward to raising the important funds for those who need it the most. Join the frenzy today, make a difference and have some fun along the way,” said Adam K. Joseph, Vice President of Philanthropy at Opportunity Village.
This year, participants will choose five teams to win against the spread (ATS) each week with public “betting” lines released by William Hill, whose US headquarters are based in Las Vegas. At the end of the 17-week regular professional football season, the registrant with the highest ATS mark is crowned champion and awarded an exclusive watch party thrown by Opportunity Village and friends. Other prizes, including staycations, golf outings, spa days and gift certificates, will also be awarded to the remaining top five finishers.
“We are very excited to partner with Opportunity Village as their odds provider for the annual “Picks for OV” football contest,” said Michael Grodsky, VP of Marketing for William Hill US. “Opportunity Village does so much for the Las Vegas community and this contest offers a fun way for everyone to get involved with a great cause.”
This year, Opportunity Village will be opening the contest to the public for the first time to join local celebrities, athletes and iconic figures in the community. Last year, professional sports handicapper Scott Spreitzer took first place. He follows in the footsteps of Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Forrest Griffin, who won the inaugural football contest in 2018.
Other notable “Picks for OV” participants include former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, 10-year NBA veteran C.J. Watson, 98.5 KLUC’s Chet Buchanan, former two-time welterweight boxing champion Shawn Porter, Detroit Lions lineman Tyrell Crosby, International Boxing Hall of Fame member Al Bernstein and the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s man-about-town columnist John Katsilometes.
