Registration is now open for the fourth annual Picks for OV: Football Fever benefiting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities at Opportunity Village.
LAS VEGAS – Opportunity Village has a “fever” and the only prescription is more football!
Pro football is back and that means Opportunity Village’s annual "betting" contest — Picks for OV: Football Fever — has returned to raise money for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Southern Nevada.
Presented by Boyd Gaming Corporation, this 18-week NFL handicapping contest gives players the chance to win amazing prizes — such as staycations, spa days, dining experiences, golf outings and more — while competing against hundreds of other football fanatics in the name of philanthropy. Players can sign up now through Saturday, September 11th at picksforov.com with a donation, or “entry fee,” of $50.
“Football season has a way of bringing together friends, family and complete strangers like no other,” said Gregory Gudenkauf, Director of Development at Opportunity Village. “We’re excited for the fourth edition of our Picks for OV contest and are incredibly grateful to have a partner like Boyd Gaming step up and support the wonderful people we serve here at Opportunity Village.”
Each week, Picks for OV: Football Fever players will select every NFL game — except for Thursday contests — against the spread (ATS) with public betting lines released by Boyd Gaming Corporation. At the end of the season, the registrant with the highest ATS mark will be crowned champion and awarded a unique prize package alongside the other top four finishers.
“Opportunity Village has set the nation’s standard of excellence for serving individuals with intellectual disabilities for decades, and as a long-time partner, Boyd Gaming is proud to support the Picks for OV football contest,” said David Strow, Boyd Gaming Vice President of Corporate Communications. “We look forward to working with Opportunity Village to bring the community together to enjoy this year’s contest that will make this football season even more exciting and meaningful for Southern Nevada families.”
For the second year in a row, Picks for OV: Football Fever will be open to the public to join local celebrities, athletes and figures in the Southern Nevada community. Jennifer Romas, Choreographer & Star of SEXXY The Show at Westgate Las Vegas, won last year’s contest with a 50-32-3 ATS record and will be returning in 2021 to defend her title. Joining her will be: Chet Buchanan (98.5 KLUC), Oscar Goodman (former Las Vegas Mayor), Jonathan Jossel (Plaza Hotel & Casino), John Katsilometes (Las Vegas Review-Journal), TC Martin (TC Martin Show/Las Vegas Aces play-by-play), Aidan Parker (Thunder from Down Under), Mariah Rivera (Fantasy) and several more!
Other past “Picks for OV” participants include UFC Hall of Famer Forrest Griffin, Master Magician Lance Burton, NBA veteran C.J. Watson, welterweight boxing champion Shawn Porter, Detroit Lions lineman Tyrell Crosby, International Boxing Hall of Fame member Al Bernstein, Las Vegas headliner Lorena Peril and WBO welterweight World Champion Jessie Vargas.
Picks for OV participants are encouraged to share their weekly picks online and engage in friendly banter on social media, tagging Opportunity Village and using the hashtag #PicksforOV. All proceeds from the event go to support over 3,000 people in Southern Nevada with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
