Opportunity Village, CG Technology Sportsbooks, Jessie Rae's BBQ to put on second annual Picks for OV: Football Fever in support of adults with disabilities.
LAS VEGAS – Opportunity Village, CG Technology Sportsbooks and Jessie Rae’s BBQ will be collaborating this fall to put on Picks for OV: Football Fever, a 17-week NFL betting contest featuring several of the Las Vegas Valley’s most recognizable names competing against one another to support adults with disabilities.
The second annual Football Fever expects to bring critical awareness of Southern Nevada adults with intellectual and related disabilities while raising thousands of dollars for the programs and services at Opportunity Village.
For each week of the National Football League (NFL) regular season, which runs from September 5 through December 29, participants will choose five teams to win against the spread with public “betting” lines released by the program’s sponsor, CG Technology Sportsbooks. UFC Hall of Famer Forrest Griffin won last year’s contest, posting an impressive 43-34-2 record.
"Here at Opportunity Village, we’re always looking for ways to captivate our audience and bring excitement to the fundraising realm and Picks for OV did just that last year in its inaugural year,” said Adam K. Joseph, Vice President of Philanthropy at Opportunity Village. "We’re so excited to team up with world-class partners like CG Technology Sportsbooks and Jessie Rae’s this year to serve our clients and bring a fun, football spirit to our donor base.”
“CG and its team members are proud to return as presenting sponsor of this exciting contest that raises awareness and funds for one of the city’s most worthwhile causes,” said Parikshat Khanna, CEO of CG Technology Sportsbooks. “Through the lens of sports, the contest reminds us how communities are strengthened when people of all backgrounds and abilities come together and support one another.”
All contestant entrance fees, or “bets” for Picks for OV: Football Fever, will be used to support Opportunity Village’s mission in serving adults within our community with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As the presenting sponsor, CG Technology Sportsbooks will be matching up to $10,000 for fundraising support.
Some participants from last year included former Mayor Oscar Goodman, 98.5 KLUC’s Chet Buchanan, welterweight boxing champion Shawn Porter, the Review Journal’s man-about-town columnist John Katsilometes and Hall of Fame boxing commentator Al Bernstein. Opportunity Village also had a client-based team, where one individual with disabilities would select on behalf of the organization’s team each week.
The deadline to sign up for Picks for OV: Football Fever is September 3, 2019.
