Sports fans will have the chance to win amazing prizes while supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities during Picks for OV: Hoops Hoopla (March 14-April 5).
LAS VEGAS — What’s all the ‘hoopla’ about?
Dust off those high-tops and mesh shorts, throw on your vintage alma mater shirt and join hundreds of sports fans in Opportunity Village's spring basketball contest — Picks for OV: Hoops Hoopla — for the chance to win amazing prizes while supporting one of Southern Nevada’s longest-running nonprofits.
For a donation, or “entrance” fee of $50, participants will be able to compete against local celebrities, athletes and figures in the Southern Nevada community during the single-elimination NCAA Tournament, which runs from March 18-April 5 in Indiana. Sign up now until 7:00 a.m. on March 19th (First Round) at picksforov.com.
Presented by Nutrishop, Picks for OV: Hoops Hoopla was created to give ardent sports fans the chance to have fun while supporting the programs and services Opportunity Village offers to over 3,000 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Southern Nevada.
“Who says philanthropy can’t be fun?” said Adam K. Joseph, Vice President of Philanthropy at Opportunity Village. “When we first started the ‘Picks for OV’ brand in 2018, we noticed there was an overlap between sports fans and philanthropists. We sought to create an online community to showcase this and we’ve been overwhelmed by our community’s support. We couldn’t be more thankful to Nutrishop, The FAN, Nevada Health Link, HomeLight and Thrivent for jumping on board and seeing the value in supporting one of our country’s most vulnerable populations.”
“Nutrishop is honored to be the presenting sponsor for the Picks for OV: Hoops Hoopla contest and the support it provides to the people OV serves,” said Tania and Bryon McLendon, Nutrishop.
The official 68-team bracket will be unveiled at 3 p.m. PDT on Sunday, March 14th. At that time, Hoops Hoopla registrants will be sent a link by event officials with instructions on how to fill out and submit a bracket over the next five days. The top 5 finishers of Picks for OV: Hoops Hoopla will win amazing prizes, such as: dining experiences, fitness packages, golf lessons and much more. Leaderboards will be posted on social media, and participants are encouraged to share their picks online and engage in friendly banter with others using the hashtag #PicksforOV and tagging Opportunity Village.
Because of its unique timing in the year, Picks for OV: Hoops Hoopla serves as a fundraising component of Opportunity Village’s Developmental Disability Awareness Month initiative, March to $100K.
