Meet Taylor J., Donor Engagement Specialist
In this series of "Day in the Life of ____", we will be highlighting the various professions Opportunity Village has to offer. This feature is focused on the role of Donor Engagement Specialist
What led you to OV/your current position?
When I moved to Las Vegas 4 years ago, I wanted to get involved with volunteer work and a co-worker invited me to come and volunteer at Opportunity Village during the Magical Forest. I fell in love with the organization with how positive and uplifting the mission was. After that, I looked into more ways to Volunteer at OV. Now I work for this amazing organization as the Donor Engagement Specialist in our Resource Development Department.
What does a typical day look like for you?
There haven’t really been any typical days yet haha. But my day consist of interacting with current and new donors who want to support the individuals we serve. I help raise funds and keep our donors up-to-date with what is happening at OV. From individual donors to corporate sponsors for our major events throughout the year including the Forest.
What is the most exciting part of your job?
There are a few things that tie for the most exciting part of my job.
Learning and hearing the stories about why these donors what to help/support our mission.
Knowing that every conversation I have has a true purpose and meaning, to help enrich the lives of the individuals who are apart of OV.
Getting to meet the individuals we serve and seeing how happy they are to be at OV. I’m looking forward to COVID being lifted, so I get to interact and meet everyone!
Who inspires you?
I know it tends to be a cliché answer but my parents. My parents always cared and put others happiness and wellbeing above their own, stood up for those who couldn’t stand up for themselves, and absolutely devoted to one another and family. Showing the true meaning of the word LOVE in every way. In my everyday life, I think about my parents and what they would do, they have always been my inspiration/motivation for as long as I could remember. I am beyond proud to be their daughter.
What is your favorite thing to do when you're not working?
I love to spend time with my family- that includes my two rescue pups! Not going to lie, they are the highlight of my day when I get off work. My dogs, Bailey and Jordan, always make me so happy and laugh! They are goofballs and so cuddly. I enjoy hiking and going on adventures with my dogs any chance I get.
