Meet Wynisha J., Community Training Specialist

In this series of "Day in the Life of ____", we will be highlighting the various professions Opportunity Village has to offer. This feature is focused on the role of Community Training Specialist.

What led you to OV/your current position?

When I moved here 3.5 years ago from Denver, Colorado, I decided to change my profession from retail management. I had no idea what I wanted to do and I learned about OV and decided this would be a good fit for me. I now am a Community Training Specialist at the Clark County Government Center.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day at work for me begins when I arrive and I check emails. Then I meet with the opening supervisor to see how the morning went. From there, I meet with my staff to see if they need anything from me. Then I walk the floors to make sure everything is good. I get the evening shift’s supplies and paperwork ready and send out a group text informing everyone what is going on for the duration of their shift.

What is the most exciting part of your job?

The most exciting part of my job is putting a smile on the program participant’s face no matter the mood there in I can always make them smile by giving them some encouraging words and letting them know they are doing a great job!

Who inspires you?

My children inspire me every day. I wake up and look at their faces and I know I cannot and will not give up no matter what it does get hard sometimes, but I got this!

What is your favorite thing to do when you're not working?

I love to cook and give back to the less fortunate. I teach my children we never know when we will need help so when we have a little extra we pay it forward.
