Chief Operations Officer

For twenty-one years, as President and CEO of Goodwill of Southern Nevada, Inc. Steve was responsible for leading the Goodwill organization from the brink of elimination to become one of the most dynamic human service organizations in Southern Nevada. The purpose of Goodwill of Southern Nevada, Inc. is to enable Southern Nevada citizens with barriers to employment to start new careers and lives of independence and to create sustainable jobs within Goodwill.

With Steve’s vision, Goodwill increased its annual revenue from $800,000 in 1996 to $38,370,000 in 2016, performing in the top 30% of the national market. Through the social enterprise business model, Steve created 1,000 new sustainable positions. Over 22,000 people were placed into jobs generating over $4.5 billion in wages through workforce development services.

A culture of innovation marks Steve’s career: development of numerous promotion-based customer programs, online auctions and recruiting systems.

Steve earned his bachelor’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation from the University of Memphis, and earned his master’s degree in Business Administration from Tennessee State University. He is a founding Board Member of the Spread the Word Nevada Kids to Kids, an organization dedicated to promoting literacy for at-risk youth in Southern Nevada. Steve also served on the boards of the US Vets Las Vegas, Jobs for America’s Graduates Nevada, the Leadership Council of Downtown Achieves and the Nonprofit CEO Advisory Council. Steve is a graduate of the 2014 Leadership Las Vegas class and a Vistage member since 2012.

Steve and his wife, Paola, enjoy living in Southern Nevada. Steve has two grown children, Anna and Nick. Anna is a Doctor of Physical Therapy in Las Vegas. Nick has a BA degree in Film and Television Production from Loyola Marymount University in L.A. and currently is working for a video editing company in Los Angeles. Paola has one grown son, Andres, who graduated from MIT with a Masters and works for Google.
