Event Overview

The 2024 Opportunity Village Family Family Conference will explore the complexities and opportunities surrounding transitioning from family residential settings to more independent and community-based living, developing person-centered future planning, and learning how to tell your story for effective everyday advocacy. Attendees can look forward to an empowering day developing advocacy skills, relationships, and resource connections!

Session 1: “Empowering Independence”

Session 1 will address the transition from family residential settings to more independent and community-based living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD). We will bring together a diverse group of panelists to share their lived experience.

Session 2: “Charting the Course”

Session 2 will focus on the framework of future planning for your loved one. This session will help attendees focus on prioritizing the person-centered approach and ensuring the individual’s interests, desires, and strengths guide decision-making.

Session 3: “Finding Your Voice”

Session 3 will equip attendees with the tools and strategies to confidently tell their story. Explore the power of storytelling and its impact on advocacy, inclusion, and building understanding.
