OV Spotlight: Jessica Lucero

Tags: Published On: February 9, 2026Last Updated: February 13, 2026

Jessica currently serves on the Opportunity Village Board and was elected in 2024. She first became involved with Opportunity Village in 2010 through former board member Kevin Bethel, with whom she worked in the finance organization at NV Energy. Over the years, Jessica supported Opportunity Village through committee involvement, volunteering on the Magical Forest decorating committee, attending Camelot events, and later serving on the OV Advocacy Committee. She also has a personal connection to the mission, as her brother Daniel participates in the Prevocational program at OV’s Engelstad Campus. Serving on the Board was a long-standing goal for Jessica, and she is honored to serve in this role.

Q: What is your favorite type of food?
A: I don’t have a favorite meal. I tend to keep it simple and healthy most of the time, but I always make room for chocolate and pan dulce.

Q: What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
A: Supporting my daughter’s dance activities, staying active at the gym and on my spin bike, and making time for personal growth.

Q: What is one thing you cannot live without?
A: My family. I have incredible parents whose support I’ve always been able to count on. Coming from a large Mexican family means we’re always gathering to celebrate something with great food, music, dancing, and lots of time together.

Q: What is your favorite sports team?
A: I’m not big into sports in general, but I love gathering with family and friends for big events such as the Super Bowl, boxing, and the World Series.

Q: If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?
A: The ability to pause time to handle responsibilities and, more importantly, have extra time to soak in the moments and memories I never want to rush.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A: Paris. I would love to see a world-class ballet at the Paris Opera with my daughter.

Q: What are you most proud of?
A: My daughter, Avianna, is my greatest pride and joy. Watching her grow into a thoughtful young lady inspires everything I do. It’s important to me that she learns the value of giving back. I’m grateful to be part of Opportunity Village, whose mission is especially meaningful to me as a sibling of a person served, and I’m also grateful to work for NV Energy, a company that supports volunteerism and encourages my service.

Q: What is your favorite holiday tradition?
A: Our family Christmas vacation. About 20 of us get together to spend Christmas week under one roof. It’s always so much fun and creates beautiful memories.

Q: What is one piece of advice you would give to people who are thinking about getting involved with Opportunity Village?
A: Do it. Once you experience the joy and impact Opportunity Village has on all people served, you’ll understand how truly meaningful it is.

Q: What is your favorite OV event?
A: I can’t pick just one — both HallOVeen and Magical Forest.
