OV Spotlight: Tom Thomas

Tom Thomas has been involved with Opportunity Village and served on the Foundation Board of Directors for nearly 35 years. He is a managing partner with the Thomas & Mack Company. Tom was first introduced to the organization by former Associate Executive Director and Chief Fundraising Officer Linda Smith, who invited him to help manage the Foundation while he was with Valley Bank of Nevada. His father, E. Parry Thomas, has been involved with Opportunity Village since its founding over 70 years ago. The Thomas family has long been dedicated supporters and champions of Opportunity Village and the people it serves.

Q: What is your favorite type of food?
A: Salmon

Q: What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
A: Cycling, powder skiing, mountaineering, and general adventure—going to unusual places

Q: What is one thing you cannot live without?
A: My wife, Leslie

Q: What is your favorite sports team?
A: Utah and BYU teams

Q: If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?
A: To fly

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A: Jerusalem—my favorite city in the world

Q: What are you most proud of?
A: Our family’s dedication to the community

Q: What is your favorite holiday tradition?
A: Christmas Eve and all the special moments with my kids

Q: What is one piece of advice you would give people who are thinking about getting involved with Opportunity Village?
A: Dive in with real intent. It’s not a passive experience—you need to be fully engaged to truly understand it and make an impact.

Q: What is your favorite OV event?
A: Camelot. I love seeing everyone mingling in the Magical Forest setting. Over the years, I’ve watched the Forest evolve and transform through Eagle Scout projects, company donations, and community support. It’s inspiring to witness the growth of such an extraordinary organization.
