LAS VEGAS – An inclusive living community with residential housing for people of all abilities will soon be coming to Opportunity Village.

Betty’s Village, a state-of-the-art residential community for individuals with and without disabilities who want to live and grow in an integrated neighborhood, will officially break ground on Thursday, September 26 at 9:00 a.m. at Opportunity Village’s Ralph & Betty Engelstad Campus.

Featuring Smart Living technology and integrated design, Betty’s Village – named after longtime Opportunity Village supporter and iconic local philanthropist Betty Engelstad, is expected to be complete in 2021 on the 6.7-acre lot adjacent to the organization’s Southwest Campus located at 6050 S. Buffalo Dr. Las Vegas, NV 89113.

“Betty’s Village will be a haven for people with intellectual and related disabilities; a dream fulfilled for our clients and their families and also for the dedicated staff, supporters and leadership team who have worked long and hard to bring this remarkable project to fruition,” said Bob Brown, President & CEO of Opportunity Village. “The thoughtful environment will facilitate living, socializing, connecting, working and growing along with peers whose goals include happily living richer, more independent and fulfilling lives within the Southern Nevada Community.”

Betty’s Village will consist of one- and two-bedroom apartment units and two four-bedroom homes, with a total capacity of 82 residents. To meet the varying needs and safety of its residents, Betty’s Village will provide a gated community as well as on-site security, with each resident’s personal supports available 24-hours every day, accessible through a key code for residents and their families. Within apartments and homes, each unit will feature a full-size kitchen, washer and dryer units, and a patio area to encourage interaction between residents.

The focal point of Betty’s Village will be a clubhouse of over 16,000 square feet where residents, families and friends can exercise in the gym, swim or lounge in the pool and spa, play in the game room, watch a movie in the multipurpose room, access the business center’s computers and printers, or socialize in the resident lounge. Betty’s Village will also include shaded and grassy outdoor venues for resident’s social and recreation needs, as well as a BBQ area.

To foster additional social recreation, a monthly activity calendar with events within the neighborhood and in the greater Las Vegas community will be distributed to all residents.

In addition to numerous benefits for its residents, Opportunity Village is proud to offer Betty’s Village as an additional option for respite and support services to family caregivers and to allow nonresidents the opportunity to experience Betty’s Village and its amenities.
