Opportunity Village – Main Campus

Main Campus

The Opportunity Village West Oakey Campus is a testament to the tenacity and hard work of the Resource Development Office, a Dynamic Board of Directors, the Lied Foundation and many other donors. The West Oakey Campus was Opportunity Village’s first real home. It has supported  thousands of people since 1992. People have grown and developed new skills that now allow them to lead independent, dignified lives. We have seen many changes to the buildings and landscape; all to improve the programs and services we offer.

Walters Family Campus

Walters Family Campus

The Walters Family Campus became a reality when Miss Kitty Rodman introduced Bill and Susan Walters to Opportunity Village and their son Scott Walters began volunteering in the Oakey Employment Resource Center. Kitty’s insight, Scott’s enthusiasm and Bill and Susan’s generosity spurred Opportunity Village into action to meet an ever growing need for program space. This beautiful facility, opened in April 2000, immediately became a source of pride and a place of learning and employment, serving thousands of individuals over the past 15 years.

North Campus

North Campus

Opportunity Village’s temporary home in North Las Vegas includes the Employment Resource Center and the PRIDE and Enable therapeutic habilitation programs. The North Campus employs the Cutlery Club and Assembly Authority workers fulfilling assembly and packaging contracts for Southern Nevada businesses such as Chili’s, HMS Host and the Bellagio Resort Casino. The adults with disabilities we serve at the North Campus Enable Program volunteer for the City of North Las Vegas’ Adopt-a-Park program and participate in many other local community projects in the North Las Vegas area. The new Northwest Campus, due to open in two years, will take the North Campus’ place.

Opportunity Village – Thrift Store

Thrift Store

The Thrift Store, opened in the late 1950s, is Opportunity Village’s oldest business.  The store offers new and gently used clothing, furniture, appliances, sporting goods and much, much more. It’s success relies on donations from the community and the generosity of large conventions, including the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter shows at the World Market Center where the newest and best furniture and décor designs are revealed. Conventions and shows enable the Thrift Store to offer exciting and inexpensive buys on terrific items, some of which are brand new.  The Opportunity Village Thrift Store offers free pick up of your donations. Remember, your donation is tax deductible, and helps provide revenue to sustain Opportunity Village’s programs and services and, more importantly, provides  job and paychecks to Thrift Store employees.
