Opportunity Village Awarded Neighborhood Grant from The Starbucks Foundation
LAS VEGAS (August 4, 2025) – As part of The Starbucks Foundation’s Neighborhood Grants program, Opportunity Village was selected to receive a $13,000 grant. This year, Opportunity Village was chosen from among 56,000 nominations submitted by Starbucks partners (employees).
Opportunity Village was nominated by several local Starbucks partners who recognized our work in the Las Vegas area, serving people with disabilities, and who volunteer with us throughout the year. Through this unique partner-led community giving program, The Starbucks Foundation invites Starbucks partners and alumni to nominate a local organization in their community. Since 2019, more than 16,000 grants have been awarded to local organizations, amounting to more than $25 million.
Since 1954, Opportunity Village has served people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Las Vegas area. Today, the organization serves about 3,000 people each year through workforce development, direct employment, and day habilitation programs. Opportunity Village also operates a residential housing community, Betty’s Village, built so that people with and without disabilities can live in an inclusive, safe space.
“We are incredibly grateful to The Starbucks Foundation for this generous grant and its continuous support of Opportunity Village,” said Bob Brown, president and CEO of Opportunity Village. “Opportunity Village depends on grant funding to keep evolving our programs for the people we serve, and the support of The Starbucks Foundation will help us keep providing the highest quality services for our community.”
The Starbucks Foundation’s Neighborhood Grants program supports grassroots, community-led nonprofit organizations making a difference in their community. With Starbucks partners leading the way, Starbucks helps communities thrive. Neighborhood Grants also help build sustained local impact and inspire increased partner (employee) engagement with nonprofit organizations and charities that work in their communities.
“Starbucks has always been the community coffeehouse – a place where our partners (employees) build real connections. Through this latest round of Neighborhood Grants, they’ve nominated local organizations making meaningful impact, from addressing hunger to supporting youth,” said Kelly Goodejohn, executive director of The Starbucks Foundation. “We’re proud to support these efforts and the role our partners play in strengthening their communities.”
