OV Spotlight: Erin Morrissey

Tags: Published On: November 19, 2025

Erin Morrissey is the 1st Vice Chair of the Opportunity Village Board and has served on the Board since January 2016. She is also an insurance partner at Morrissey Insurance.

Erin’s connection to OV began even before she was born. Her father, Mike Morrissey, joined the Board before he knew Erin’s older brother, Sean, would be born with Down syndrome. Sean now attends Opportunity Village and lives in Betty’s Village, making Erin’s involvement deeply personal. OV has been a part of the Morrissey family’s story for decades, and serving on the Board herself feels like coming full circle. Being part of OV has been close to Erin’s heart for as long as she can remember.

Get to Know Erin

Q: What is your favorite type of food?
A: Pasta. Always pasta. I could be at the fanciest steakhouse in the world, and if penne alla vodka is on the menu, that’s what I’m ordering.

Q: What are some of your hobbies outside of work?

A: Spending time with my husband and daughter tops the list. I love hosting friends, reading, and taking on home projects … even though I somehow always think they’ll be quick “weekend jobs,” and they never are. I also recently joined a book club with a new group of friends, and it has become something I genuinely look forward to. We’re all in similar stages of life, so the conversations feel easy and relatable, but we also take the reading part seriously, which has been surprisingly fun. It has turned into its own little community, and I’ve loved being part of it.

Q: What is one thing you cannot live without?
A: My husband. He makes every day better and keeps me laughing, especially when I need it most.

Q: What is your favorite sports team?
A: I’ll always root for the Vegas teams. I’m not a big TV sports watcher, but take me to a live game, and I’m suddenly the most enthusiastic fan in the arena. There’s something about the energy, the lights, and the community that makes it impossible not to get into it.

Q: If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?
A: Teleportation. I’d love to skip airport lines and go straight from a client meeting to preschool pickup in a blink.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A: Australia. I lived in Sydney for a year and would move back in a heartbeat if my family and friends came too. The lifestyle, the beaches, the coffee—it’s all unbeatable.

Q: What are you most proud of?
A: My family, hands down. Watching my daughter grow up surrounded by love and laughter makes me proud every single day. I’m also proud to be part of something bigger such as continuing my family’s legacy of giving back through organizations like Opportunity Village. Being involved as both a board member and a sibling of someone served by OV makes the work personal and incredibly meaningful.

Q: What is your favorite holiday tradition?
A: Christmas Eve dinner at my parents’ house. It always ends with karaoke (none of us can sing), lots of laughter, and matching pajama gifts for Christmas morning.

Q: What is one piece of advice you would give people who are thinking about getting involved with Opportunity Village?
A: Say yes. You might think you’re signing up to help, but you’ll walk away realizing how much Opportunity Village gives back to you. It’s a place that radiates joy. Every visit is a reminder of what really matters: kindness, connection, and community. It’s impossible not to be changed by it.

Q: What is your favorite OV event?
A: My answer is constantly rotating. I always love the pomp and circumstance of Camelot, but HallOVeen has become a new favorite. It’s such a fun way to kick off the holiday season.
